This program provides an opportunity to work as a Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) on an active highway or bridge construction project administered by the New York State Department of Transportation. Most TCIs gain valuable work experience performing basic engineering computations, documentation, and inspection and quality control tasks under the supervision of an engineer. This experience has helped hundreds of students refine their long term goals and, in some cases, has led to a permanent position and career within the New York State Department of Transportation.

The positions are available from April 1st through December 31st. We accept applications from January until September (early submission is recommended).

The positions we are offering are located in Region 9. Similar positions are also available statewide. Minimum qualifications, pay rates, tasks and duties, NYSDOT employment application (PER 22), and addresses and location of all NYSDOT offices throughout New York State can be found at the web site: https://www.dot.ny.gov. Applications for other NYS Regions should be mailed to the address indicated on the NYSDOT web site. An applicant must submit an application to each location they wish to be considered in.
